My goal is to have the Full Card of the Asian TourThe only Moroccan professional golfer to have spent an entire season on the German Pro Golf Tour, Ayoub Lguirati takes stock of the year and above all projects himself on the Asian Tour where he notably played three events…

Golf du Maroc & Style: You have just completed a full season on the Pro Golf Tour, finishing in 28th place. What lessons have you learned from it?

Ayoub Lguirati: It was a great season. I’m really happy with what I did. I learned a lot of things: how to manage my travels while being alone abroad, how to fight with players who are hungry, who want to get on the Challenge Tour and then on the DP World Tour… It wasn’t easy but I’m happy with my season. I got good results. I finished several times in the top 10, I made top 5 and top 20… It helped me a lot to end my season well.

GDM&S: How did you find the means to finance a full season on the Pro Golf Tour and what was the support of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation? A. L: I was lucky to have sponsors who trusted me from the start. When I presented my project for the season, they were there to help me. They were a huge support for me and that encouraged me to go and play abroad on my own. I thank my sponsors very much: TGCC, Koutoubia, Promamec and TECSA. I would also like to thank the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation because it helped me in particular with performance bonuses. I am really delighted with his support, which helped me pay for my flights in particular.

GDM&S: You have just played two Asian Tour tournaments where you finished 28th in Morocco and 37th in Egypt. Did it make you want to join this circuit knowing that you have demonstrated that you have the level to evolve there?

A. L: Frankly, I loved playing on the Asian Tour. I really prepared for this with my team. I was happy to finish 28th in Morocco and to have an invitation for the Egyptian event. I was also delighted to pass the cut there in a field composed of very good players. I feel really good on this circuit. At the moment, I am in Indonesia (to compete in the Indonesian Masters (December 1-4), the last tournament of the season on the Asian circuit, where he finished 38th NDLR) still at the invitation of the Asian Tour (27 november). I will give everything to have a category next season. With this in mind, I will pass the cards for this circuit in January in Thailand. I am preparing well with my team to play well in these School Qualifiers to have the Asian Tour card next year.

GDM&S: What are your objectives for next season and how do you plan to prepare for it?

A. L: As I just said, my objective is really to have the Full Card of the Asian Tour, to concentrate on this circuit and to achieve very good results. G
